Unopened cosmetic products that are still sealed usually have a shelf life of 3-5 years. You can check the period after opening (PAO) symbol which is commonly found on packages of cosmetic products. It indicates how long the product is safe after the package is unsealed, for example, “12 M” means that the product will be good for 12 months after opening.
 
However, cosmetic shelf life also varies, depending on product composition, a function of storage and temperature. If anything looks or smells weird, don’t use it.
